Who we are
Instrumentation Hub is run by Sheik Abdullah. Questions about this policy can be sent through the Help Desk.
Information you give us
- Help Desk requests: your name, email address and message. These are used only to answer you, and are stored by our hosting provider (Netlify).
- Community posts: the display name you choose (or "Anonymous"), your post text and the time it was posted. Posts are public. Don't include personal or confidential company information.
Accounts
If you create an account we store your email address, your name, the date you joined and how you sign in (email and password, or a provider such as Google, Apple, Microsoft, GitHub, LinkedIn or Facebook). Passwords are never seen by us: accounts are managed by our authentication provider, Supabase, which stores passwords only in hashed form. When you sign in with a provider we receive only your name, email and profile picture; we never post anything to your accounts. A sign-in token is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay logged in; logging out removes it. To delete your account, contact the Help Desk from the same email.
Information collected automatically
- Our host processes your IP address to deliver the site, prevent abuse and apply rate limits. We don't store IP addresses with forum posts.
- Your browser's local storage keeps your theme choice and forum display name on your own device.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the fonts are downloaded.
- We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Visitor statistics: when you open a page (or an app tool), we count the page address, the referring website, your country (from the host's location lookup) and your device type (mobile, tablet or desktop). To count unique visitors per day we store a one-way code made from your IP address, browser and the date; it changes every day and cannot be turned back into your IP address. No cookies are used and IP addresses are not stored. These statistics are only used to see which content is useful.
Apps
Calculations in our apps run entirely on your device. The values you enter are not sent to us.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete a Help Desk request or a forum post you made by contacting the Help Desk or emailing info@instrumentationhub.org with enough detail to identify it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
